Text Box: I’m writing this in late October while the rain continues and my hopes of getting one last round in seem to fade like the dwindling daylight hours of fall. What a change from the beautiful year we had weather – wise at Glass Hill. Although the course could have used a little more rain (more on that later), we enjoyed one of our best years ever in terms of play at Glass Hill ... I think every weekend was somewhat sunny and warm!!
Your Board has continued to make significant equipment upgrades keeping our Superintendent happy, and the course looking as well maintained and groomed as possible. Frank and his team have done a great job – thank them for their efforts when you see them.
Glass Hill continues to support local charitable and civic Text Box: organizations by hosting events throughout the year at our course. Peak weekend summer play is only interrupted by our three one - day Club sanctioned events, The Charity Classic in June, the Member/Guest tournament in July and the Club Championship in August. Some local groups we support through course usage include Rotary, the Lions Club, Northern Fastpitch softball and the Steuben Striders. As members you can be proud we assist these fine groups, and in our own small way give a little bit back to the communities in which we live. The Charity Classic, organized since its inception by long time member Reg Clemons, targets a different charitable recipient each year. This event has been an ongoing success and all proceeds are forwarded on behalf of Glass Hill to the named Text Box: charity – more positive recognition for Glass Hill – thanks Reg!
We had another strong representation at the year-end Tournament
of Champions by our Glass Hill members, with Ricky Doolittle coming in second in a playoff in her division. This effort and last years win by Matt Kochan remind all those other little clubs (Yahnundasis, Ceder Lake, Valley View and Newport) that Glass Hill has to be reckoned with!
As with most things in life you sometimes have to take a little bad with all the good, and unfortunately that holds true at Glass Hill as well. During August our secure area in the clubhouse was entered into and we were robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash. Although this robbery continues as an ongoing investigation by the NY State Police, it’s unlikely we will receive any results and/or Text Box: President’s Message
